When it comes to beauty, the most effective products are often those that respond to a real need. A philosophy that the Australian brand Aesop has applied since its beginnings in 1987. At the time, its founder Dennis Paphitis was a hairdresser in a salon in Melbourne. In addition to making a point of tidying his workspace impeccably (because he feels it helps him concentrate when dealing with difficult clients), he one day started adding essential oils in the coloring products he uses every day. A natural tip to camouflage ammonia odors that its guests particularly like.
Helped by a pharmacist, Dennis Paphitis then began to develop a range of simpler products. The idea? Use fewer ingredients, but of better quality. The mayonnaise sets and the hair treatments are soon followed by products for the hands, then the body and finally, the face. To the point that in 1997, the hairdresser left his salon for good in order to work full time on his brand. Named Aesop in homage to the famous Greek storyteller (and as a snub to the parfois extravagant promises of certain cosmetic brands), the brand quickly found success with a clientele eager for more natural products and with original, sophisticated scents.
In 2014, Aesop opened its first store, in Melbourne. Today, elle is present all over the world. Soundproofed interior, optimal light and air conditioning, refined esprit , in their stores, everything is done to make you feel calm and relaxed. And if it all started with just four references, the house now has more than a hundred. The label's greatest successes? The Résurrection Aromatique hand balm as well as its Geranium shower gel or its shampoos and conditioners.
