There are books that we read and those that we display like little treasures. The works published by Assouline are part of the second category. Since its beginnings, the publishing house has made it a point of honor to present books that are as interesting as they are elegant. Based on the principle that the works purchased by their customers are closed the majority of the time, the couple formed by Martine and Prosper Assouline have chosen to elevate them to the rank of art objects. The idea? Create a highly cultural luxury brand where form is as important as substance. It was in 1995 that this former communications director for Rochas and this former artistic director at the head of her advertising agency joined forces to found the house that bears their name. Parents of two children who now work alongside them, each year they publish between sixty and seventy beautiful books on the subject of fashion, interior architecture or even distant destinations. Richly illustrated, these “coffee table books” include among their references major fashion houses such as Dior or Chanel , but also more contemporary brands such as Mattel or Coca-Cola. And like any self-respecting brand, Assouline has recently diversified its operations. In addition to its books, the publishing house now offers furniture and accessories designed to highlight them or to bring the finishing touch to any library.
