Benjamin Benmoyal Woman
À Just 30 years old, Benjamin Benmoyal is at the head of his eponymous brand founded in 2020. After a career as a commando-paratrooper, the Franco-Israeli took a completely different start to launch into fashion and began by training in within the prestigious Central Saint-Martins in London. During his 6 years of study, he decided to follow a hitherto unexplored path: creating a fabric based on VHS magnetic tapes. He then took two sabbatical years to experiment with this new material and made his debut in prestigious haute couture houses. After a stint at McQueen and Hermès , the young couturier decided to launch his own brand and built an entire wardrobe using magnetic strips which he presented at Paris Fashion Week in March 2021. Explosive colors, futuristic models, extravagant volumes and asymmetrical cuts: the Benmoyal universe is tinged with poetry and fantasy. Born to a Moroccan father and an Egyptian mother, the designer also draws his inspiration from the origins of his parents, drawing inspiration largely from traditional Maghreb outfits such as the haik (female clothing worn consisting of a long rectangular fabric covering the whole body, rolled up then held at the waist by a belt.) Its centerpiece? A long “medusa” dress made with more than 4000 cotton threads all around the silhouette. A dressing room that appeals to both influential figures in the fashion world and the general public. Between philosophy and environmental commitment, the brand reflects a nostalgic generation, in full questioning, definitely turned towards the future. His visionary esprit and boundless creativity make Benjamin Benmoyal an artist to follow very closely.
