Who better than a dandy to evoke masculine elegance? Named after George Brummell , a British dandy of the English Regency, Brummell is an own brand of Printemps stores. Launched in 1930 to meet a growing demand for men's fashion, the brand slowly but surely laid the foundations for a tailoring revolution. Enjoying great success, in 1952 elle gave its name to the Printemps men's store, which a few years later acquired a surface area of 6,400m2, making it the largest store of its kind in Europe. At this time, elle also stood out by being among the first to embrace the ready-to- porter model, which was still not very widespread.
Suffering from increasingly tough competition, elle gradually faded away and in 1999, the department store on Boulevard Haussmann was renamed Printemps de L'homme. Put to sleep in 2005, it will be six years before elle is reawakened. Its strong points? Quality materials sourced from the most prestigious manufacturers, highlighted through impeccable cuts.
