Koché Woman

One of the newcomers to appear on the scene in the last few years, bringing a fashion revival. The Women's Ready-to-Wear label Koché easily mixes genres such as streetwear and luxury haute couture combinations. Inspired by women all over the world and a keen advocate of diversity, founder Christelle Kocher brings a cosmopolitan style, as popular as it is sophisticated. During Paris Fashion Week, the designer insisted on holding her shows at venues where different social groups meet, such as Châtelet-les-Halles, the Communist Party headquarters, and the Passage du Prado, to encourage different cultures to come together. Then feminism is added to the mix, so there are no ordinary models appearing on the runways. Christelle Koché prefers to dig around among her group of friends and to hold more unconventional castings. This way, she finds models with more realistic body types, so customers can more readily imagine themselves in her designs. Comfortable, luxurious pieces that are casual and elegant: these are the fruits of the designer's eclectic career. Having graduated from Central Saint Martins in London, Christelle Koché worked at Giorgio Armani in Milan and then at Martine Sitbon before moving on to Chloé and Dries Van Noten in Antwerp. Virginie Viard, Artistic Director of Chanel, then suggested that Koché bring one of Chanel's Maisons d'Art back to life: the feather maker, Lemarié. There, she encountered French excellence and decided to use this unique heritage and expertise to develop more casual and contemporary pieces. She launched Koché in 2014 and, five years later, was awarded the Grand Prize at the Association Nationale pour le Développement des Arts de la Mode (ANDAM). Hand-sewn with great technical dexterity in the Paris ateliers, Koché coats feature crystals and sequins, dress necklines adorned with pearls, unisex jackets and t-shirts embellished with ultra-modern graphic prints. The new fashion guard has never been so cool.
