Le Tanneur woman
In 1898, Charles Bonnardel, renowned leatherworker, and Francisque Bornex, tanner for generations, had only one idea in mind: to create their brand of leather goods with unique know-how. For the time, the bet was daring, but together, the two entrepreneurs took the plunge. They then founded the Le Tanneur label, as well as their very first product, the “Sans Couture” wallet, which would subsequently become the icon of the brand. And, as soon as it was released, “Sans Couture” was a huge success! In 1900, during the Universal Exhibition in Paris, he won the silver prize. Then, in 1914, Le Tanneur became known to the French Army, which wanted to be equipped with quality bags, straps, boots, gaiters and leggings. Over the years, the brand has grown and become one of the country's most renowned luxury leather goods brands. In the 1980s, Le Tanneur unveiled a school collection called “TANN's” and following this, in 1987, a sports line called “Roland-Garros”, made with canvas and leather. In 2006, Le Tanneur continued its momentum, collaborating with the French airline Air France for an exclusive limited edition luggage collection. Attached to its heritage and traditions, the brand produces all of its bags and accessories in workshops located in the Pays de la Loire region and makes its pieces with so-called “full grain” leather, the noblest material that highlights the natural grain on the surface. In 2023, Le Tanneur celebrated its 125th anniversary and for the occasion, the brand's teams opened a museum filled with archives in the Parisian showroom. In November 2021, the men's and women's leather goods brand is launching its responsible “De main en main” program which allows consumers to repair or recycle their Le Tanneur pieces. Le Tanneur products are timeless, elegant, durable and minimalist, essential values that particularly appeal to the French model and fashion stylist Inès de la Fressange, muse of the house. Among the emblematic products for men, we find in particular the Alexis flap backpack, the Gaspard shoulder bag and the Emile briefcase. And for women, the Emilie handbag model is a best-seller, as well as the Sophie leather wallet and the ultra-practical little Louise tote bag for everyday use!
