MIZUKI

Mizuki Women

Long relegated to the rank of an old-fashioned jewel, the pearl has made a notable comeback in jewelry boxes in recent seasons. The reason ? Designers ready to give it a second life. Cooler, more modern but still just as chic, mother-of-pearl is the new outfit for trendy girls. At the head of this revival, Japanese designer Mizuki Goltz, founder of the Mizuki brand in 1996. Her niche? The freshwater pearl, cultiv in China and whose irregular shape gives it all its charm. Eager to bring a little warmth, femininity and modernity to this centuries-old jewel, the young woman started with her husband, Alan Goltz, at the end of her studies. Holder of a diploma in sculpture obtained at the School of Visual Arts in New York, the designer quickly imposed her original and innovative aesthetic. After a enfance spent in Japan, elle moved to New York at the age of 10 to reach California with her husband. And it is precisely these three universes that elle tries to bring together within her creations. The kanji (syllables) that make up her first name, Mizuki , given by her grandmother, are also at the heart of her jewelry. Meaning “purity”, “vitality” and “fluidity”, these carry notions which regularly appear in his work. Accustomed to working with 14-carat gold, Mizuki Goltz equally enjoys using more unexpected materials. This is evidenced by his uses of leather but also of diamonds, always cut in an original way. Combining the rawest pearls with the fluid lines of modern jewelry, her creations have earned her several awards, including the Pearl Design Award from Centurion and the Pearl Design Award at the Couture Show in Los Angeles in 2016.
