Monica Sordo woman
In addition to its mineral wealth, Venezuela is a country rich in talent. Aliita, Constanza Oquendo, Nayibe Warchausky... and Monica Sordo . After a enfance spent in Caracas, lulled by the metals of her father's industrial design workshop, the future designer flew to Europe. Interested in fashion, elle began by training in fashion design in Milan at the famous Istituto Marangoni. Direction Madrid, then, to continue with a diploma in merchandising at the Istituto Europeo di Design. Having meanwhile discovered a particular interest in jewelry, Monica Sordo completed her studies with training in jewelry design at the Gemological Institute of America in New York. However, it will still be a few years before elle launches her eponymous brand. Recruited at the end of her studies by the Spanish edition of the magazine Marie Claire, elle held the position of fashion editor there for several years. Elle then moved to the communications side and managed public relations for the Christian Louboutin brand for two years. At the same time, elle also gives courses at the Istituto Europeo di Design.
In 2016, with this professional experience ( elle knows how to promote a line and knows the needs of journalists), elle felt ready and finally founded her brand. Made in Lima, Peru, Monica Sordo jewelry combines artisanal touches and architectural references, a great influence of the designer. Eager to celebrate women in general, elle also draws inspiration from mythology and history to create elegant but strong pieces, capable of dressing modern-day women. In addition to her activities as a designer, Monica Sordo is also involved in artistic projects: for several years, elle has notably managed the curation of designers at MATE, the cultural foundation set up by Peruvian photographer Mario Testino.
