Namacheko Woman

With a discretion inversely proportional to their storytelling, the clothing of the Namacheko brand has established itself at the forefront of the men's fashion scene. Led by the duo formed by brother and sister Dilan and Lezan Lurr, the Belgian house draws its DNA from the history of its founders. Born in Iraq, les créateurs flew with their parents to Sweden in 1997. Trained in civil engineering as well as art history for Lezan, the designers launched Namacheko in 2015. It all started with Dilan, who plans to publish a book about their hometown, Kirkuk. Along the way, this project turns into a photo exhibition, coupled with a short film and some clothes which form a dialogue between life in Kirkuk and Sweden. Presented in a small Parisian gallery as part of the Fall-Winter 2017 season, the line caught the eye of retailer The Broken Arm, who bought it in its entirety. The brand is launched and the distribution is clear: Dilan takes on the role of artistic director while Lezan is CEO. The following season, nineteen distributors showed up to purchase la nouvelle collection, presented in a specially created installation by Dover Street Market in New York. Based in Antwerp (Belgium), the label has from the start partnered with major fashion players such as the production company Gysemans Clothing Group, which works in particular with Raf Simons and Dries Van Noten .
Its aesthetic? Simple at first glance but on closer inspection, rich in small details that make all the difference. Inspired by art in general and cinema in particular, Dilan Lurr likes to offer minimalist pieces, punctuated with arty touches. Buttons inspired by the work of Barbara Hepworth, curves that nod to the paintings of Joan Miro or Alexander Calder, but also prints derived from The starry Night of Van Gogh or Shout by Edvard Munch are all references, more or less obvious, which are hidden in Namacheko clothing.
