Unlike the story of Cinderella, the right shoe would be the one that finds le bon foot according to Pierre Hardy . And although the master shoemaker is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of his brand today, he did not dream of becoming a fashion designer. Indeed, the Parisian first devoted himself entirely to contemporary dance, a discipline which taught him balance and movement, two elements which would later overlook the making of his models. Endowed with a developed creative esprit , he was also interested in drawing and painting and then turned towards studies in the visual arts which led him to teaching: scenography at the École nationale supérieure des arts et theater techniques in Paris then applied arts at the École Duperré. Alexandre Mattiussi, Guillaume Henry and Christine Phung are just some of his students...
But before training the rising stars of fashion, Pierre Hardy began his career thanks to his illustrations for International men's fashions and Vanity Fair in Italy. Sketches that opened many doors for him, notably those of the iconic maison Christian Dior for which he designed the shoe collections from 1988. In 1990, another key player in French chic contacted him: Hermès , who entrusted him with artistic direction first of his chosen field then of the jewelry lines from 2001.
Although greatly in demand, Pierre Hardy wishes to free up a creative space to fully express himself and move from the role of performer to that of conductor to use his words. This is how he founded his eponymous label in 1999, characterized by collections of graphic shoes between inventiveness and consistency. Inspired by cinematographic images, architecture and automobile construction, the designer shapes a vibrant aesthetic of pop colors, futuristic silhouettes and volumes with a strong visual impact. In short, a creative concentrate that we never tire of.
