In the list of young prodigies we must add Reese Cooper who, at the age of 21, can boast of having conquered his native country, America, but also Europe with a global distribution of his eponymous brand. Born in Florida, he then moved with his family to Atlanta and then to London where he developed his interest in fashion as a teenager. It was more precisely on Tumblr that he spotted a BAPE jacket which he unfortunately could not afford but which led him to question the way certain pieces were made. To answer this, he interned with Craig Ford, founder of the marketing and public relations agency a number of names* (anon*) which has notably propelled brands such as Billionaire Boys Club , ICECREAM and. ..BAPE. At the age of 19, Reese Cooper became a consultant for the London store EJDER and adidas UK. Experiences which acted as a springboard towards his own adventure. This is how the self-taught designer founded his label in 2016 and presented his first collection called “Spoiled Children” in snub to some of his former classmates with whom he did not get along.
What started as a hobby quickly became a thriving business, although still supervised by a small team made up of a full-time assistant and Mum Cooper who handles legal emails from London. Now based in Los Angeles, the designer shapes a functional and urban aesthetic that he denies being described as streetwear. Interested in architecture and engineering, he imagines men's clothing with utilitarian and outdoor references, like army duffel bags which he transforms into durable pieces resistant to outdoor activities. The academic theme is also one of the recurring influences in the brand's collections and is reflected in American university-style jackets, comfortable hoodies or accessories with logos. Nominated in 2019 for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and supported by Virgil Abloh, Reese Cooper has everything to become the new chouchou of the industry.
