We knew fast fashion, we will now have to reckon with fast designers. Lou everywhere for his talent and vision, Richard Quinn is one of the most meteoric risers in fashion in recent years. A native of South East London, the designer was spotted from the start by the industry, which has continued to porter him ever since. Trained at Central Saint Martins School, in his first year he caught the eye of the Stella McCartney brand, which offered him a scholarship. In 2019, with his diploma in hand, he continued to spark, this time winning the H&M Design Award. At stake ? A little more notoriety but above all a grant, which allowed him to create a digital printing studio in partnership with Epson in Peckham, not far from his native district. Ready to create his own prints and produce his best collections, he was rewarded with the NewGen prize, awarded by the British Fashion Council, in 2017. But his biggest breakthrough came a few months later. In February 2018, with his latest award, he was invited to present his Fall-Winter 2018 collection as part of the official London Fashion Week. It was at this moment that Queen Elizabeth II chose to present him with a brand new award, the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. For the first time in her reign, the monarch attended a fashion show, seated front row, alongside Anna Wintour. Already popular, the young designer achieved posterity in just a few hours. His colorful creations which mix floral prints, polka dots, varied materials and daring drapes can be found on all red carpets. In May, Amal Clooney selected him to dress her while elle co-chaired the famous Met Gala and in December, he received the British Emerging Talent Womenswear Award at the British Fashion Awards. Original and committed, Richard Quinn 's fashion is extravagant but also sustainable and supportive. Not content with producing his prints, he also makes his studio available to other houses ( Burberry and JW Anderson in the lead) as well as to design students. And if the prints of his creations are produced in India, the rest of his clothes are made in the United Kingdom. An exemplary new fashion guard.
