Much more than a luxury perfume house, Sana Jardin mission is to strengthen the economic and social power of women through a sustainable and ethical approach. At the head of this initiative: Amy Christiansen Si-Ahmed, a social worker who has spent more than 20 years involved in non-profit organizations such as the Robin Hood Foundation, that of President Clinton, and the Cherie Blair's Foundation for Women. Born in Chicago, elle moved to New York then to the Middle East before settling down in London. Always advocating cultural tolerance and parity, elle founded Sana Jardin in association with the Beyond Sustainability™ movement which offers fair wages and skills training to thus promote and support its employees in a commercial relationship rather than through a charitable aid.
It is in the rural regions of Morocco that Amy Christiansen Si-Ahmed spots an opportunity. The harvesters, who could only work periodically depending on the pickings, are now receiving training to recycle the 900 tonnes of organic orange flower waste generated by perfume production. Sana Jardin thus offers these women the opportunity to launch into entrepreneurship and sell their own products from their harvest: candles and flavored waters from which they receive 100% of the profits. A transparent business model based on the circular economy and articulated in partnership with the Nest association and the company Les Aromes du Maroc.
