Originally from Malaysia, Han Chong leaves his native country to conquer the world. In 2003, he settled in the English capital, London, for his studies. Passionate about fashion and sewing, he entered the Central Saint Martins art university and obtained his diploma in women's clothing design a few years later. To take off his professional career, Han Chong wants to create a project that speaks, that inspires, that lasts over time. And in 2013, his wish was granted: he founded his high-end ready-to- porter brand Self-Portrait, in the city he loves. The name of the brand, which embodies women in visual and artistic creations, will quickly take an important place in the world of fashion. Han Chong wishes, through the creation of Self-Portrait, to make chic clothing accessible and therefore positions himself far from the world of untouchable luxury. And her bet is a real success because celebrities from all over the world and royalty are snapping up the sexy and refined pieces from the London label: the American it-girl Paris Hilton during a Jimmy Fallon show, the American actress- British Sienna Miller in Ibiza, but also Katy Perry, Chiara Ferragni, Alicia Keys and even princesses Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle who often fall for the brand's sophisticated dresses. Since the creation of his brand in 2013, Han Chong has opened numerous boutiques internationally: in Bangkok in Thailand, in Taipei in Taiwan and in Beijing and Shanghai in China. Part of a commitment to sustainability and eco-responsibility throughout the collections, the brand manufactures its pieces in its London premises and its identity is defined by refined and daring cuts that highlight the body of each woman and transparency and lace techniques, a style that combines femininity and functionality.
