Simone Rocha woman
Does talent pass from generation to generation? Looking at the career of Simone Rocha , we could be right to ask ourselves the question. Daughter of designer John Rocha, fashion star of the 80s awarded the British Fashion Award for Womenswear Designer in 1983 (Simone will win the same prize in 2016), the designer has been able to build an aesthetic of elle , where powerful femininity is celebrated with great splashes of tulle, embroidery, bows and pearls. Born in Dublin in 1986, Simone Rocha was not necessarily destined for fashion. But while studying at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, one of his teachers encouraged him to take a module on the subject. In 2008, elle continued her training at Central Saint Martins School in London, from which elle graduated in 2010. Impressed by her graduation collection, Fashion East asked her to present her creations during London Fashion Week in September of the same year. Quickly, her style which takes traditional feminine codes to better divert them hits the mark and Simone Rocha finds herself propelled to the front of the stage. Obsessed by the work of artist Louise Bourgeois, the designer seeks above all to create functional clothing, which fits naturally into the lives of those who wear it. Respected by her peers, in 2013 elle won her first British Fashion Award, that of Emerging Talent in the ready-to- porter category. The following year, elle was awarded the New Establishment Award at the same ceremony. However, she would have to wait two more years before receiving the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award at the 2016 ceremony.
