The North Face men

“Never Stop Exploring”, the motto of The North Face brand, has risen to the top of technical fashion since 1966. Douglas Tompkins, a young American mountaineer and activist committed to the environmental cause, founded The North Face in San Francisco, a cultural cradle since the 1960s. Becoming a reference in the world of outdoor equipment, for explorers around the world, the brand is building a serious reputation. The North Face , which takes its name from the most arduous face of a mountain, the North Face, inaugurates its logo, the Half Dome, a renowned granite dome in the Yosemite Valley in California. Over time, the brand has been able to establish its sporting universe in the urban world, technical clothing for mountain sports or for a practical and daily lifestyle, such as the Nuptse down jacket worn by the stars Kendall Jenner, Jennifer Aniston and even Jared Leto is struggling. Created in 1992, young people from the East Coast of the United States made it their own. The ski down jacket can be swapped into a city coat. Launched by the hip-hop culture of the 1990s, notably by Notorious BIG, the Nuptse down jacket has become one of the signature pieces of The North Face wardrobe. And among the iconic pieces, the Ruthsack, in 1969: a light and functional backpack allowing you to carry all your equipment while hiking, one of the first backpacks of modern times. Then, in 1977, the first GORE -TEX clothing was designed. Specially designed for amateur skiers, the models are waterproof, breathable and suitable for any condition. And in 1978, The North Face introduced the Base Camp all-terrain duffel bag, which became an emblematic model of the brand. First made of laminated vinyl for a flexible model, in 1986 it became more robust thanks to ultra-resistant and waterproof ballistic nylon. Since its creation, sustainable development has been at the heart of The North Face creative process. From raw materials, such as the recycling of surplus fabrics used during the Vietnam War, to the design of a sustainable and ethical product, the American brand proves its commitment through actions, while collaborating with adventurers and specialized organizations. . In 1972, for one of the brand's first sponsored expeditions, adventurer Ned Gillette traveled 480 kilometers across Alaska in 30 days. And in 1989, The North Face co-founded The Conservation Alliance with the REI, Patagonia and Kelty brands. Their approach? Distribute their collective annual dues to local organizations protecting North America's last remaining wild spaces. An adventurous brand, which adapts to any environment, for practical and minimaliste fashion.
