Considered one of the most prestigious High Jewelry houses in the world, Van Cleef & Arpels is a showcase of elegance, creativity and timelessness. The Parisian brand has stood out for centuries for its exceptional know-how and unique history. That of Estelle Arpels, daughter of a precious stone merchant, and Alfred Van Cleef , whose father was a diamond merchant. The young couple joined forces and founded the Maison Van Cleef & Arpels in 1906. On June 16 of the same year, the brand opened Place Vendôme in Paris, just opposite the Ritz. The store will be managed by Charles, Estelle's brother, with whom the couple are partnering. Two years later, Estelle's two other brothers, Louis and Julien, joined the team which propelled the label to the forefront. The House imposes its resolutely modern style and seduces the High Ladies of society. Between 1926 and 1939, artistic direction was taken over by Ren ée Puissant, daughter of the founders, in collaboration with Ren é Sim Lacaze, renowned designer. Together, they refined Van Cleef 's aesthetic and created pieces that would become iconic, like the Minaudière box and the Passe-Partout necklace. In 1933, Mystery Setting, a technique for setting stones without any visible metal scratch, was born and became the jeweler's trademark. The iconic Cadenas watch was also created during this period. Concealed in an gant bracelet, the latter allows its owner to consult the time discreetly. The creations follow one another and become legendary, like the Zip Necklace inspired by Ren ée Puissant by the Duchess of Windsor. His particuliarity ? The jewel transforms, once closed, into a bracelet adorned with a pompom and a pull in gold or platinum. Thanks to its “Le Pont des Amoureux” collection, an anthology of watches with highly complex watch movements, Van Cleef received the Geneva l'Horlogerie Grand Prix in 2010. The house is also renowned for its perfumes of excellence. First, the first jeweler's perfume created in 1976 by Jean Claude Ellena, remains a classic today. Inspired by a pendant from the Snowflake High Jewelry collection, its elegant and feminine curve echoes the Jewelry.
