A highly influential creative collaboration, Y-3 is the result of the innovative vision of Japanese Yohji Yamamoto associated with German sportswear giant: adidas . Created in 2003, the brand takes its name from the creator's two initials and the number reminiscent of the three emblematic stripes of adidas . Before establishing himself in the world of fashion, Yohji Yamamoto first enrolled at Keio University to study law. After obtaining his diploma, he decided not to pursue this path and offered to help his seamstress mother. Encouraged by the latter, he joined Bunka Fashion College, a renowned Tokyo establishment which notably trained Kenzo Takada and Junya Watanabe . In 1971 he founded his eponymous house which was introduced at Fashion Week in Paris and then New York. He multiplied the projects, like the creation of opera costumes between 1990 and 1994 and received numerous awards throughout his career: Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, National Order of Merit, Master of Design etc... Admired for his rigor and avant-garde style, Yohji Yamamoto aims to launch a new challenge by noticing New York businessmen porter their suits with sneakers.
