Yves Saint Laurent beauty
Mondrian Dress, Smoking, Saharan... a few words are enough to summarize both the history and the aesthetic of the Saint Laurent house. Noticed by the Parisian fashion community in November 1954 when he won one of the first prizes in the International Wool Secretariat Competition (the ancestor of the Woolmark Prize) alongside a very young Karl Lagerfeld , Yves Matthieu -Saint-Laurent started at Christian Dior where he first worked as a stylist. When the founding designer died in 1957, he was chosen to succeed him. His first collection, presented in 1958, was a success. In 1961, he founded his eponymous label with the support of Pierre Bergé. The presentation of its first line in 1962 revealed a new aesthetic, designed for elegant and active women. Gifted, Yves Saint-Laurent quickly became the darling of Parisian fashion. Revolutionizing women's wardrobe, Saint Laurent creations include numerous references to art, another passion of the designer. Homages to Van Gogh, to Mondrian, to the Ballets Russes... the designer thinks of his clothes as ornaments that highlight the woman while liberating her. In January 2002, Yves Saint Laurent retired and Tom Ford , the Texan designer who revived Gucci , replaced him. In 2012, the new Artistic Director Hedi Slimane established a new, more rock image, which quickly won over customers wishing to sport la nouvelle silhouette of the trendy Parisian. In 2016, he was replaced by Anthony Vaccarello. Graduated from La Cambre (Belgium) in 2006, he stood out the same year by receiving the Grand Prix de mode at the Hyères International Festival. Prolific, he also won the Andam Grand Prix in 2011. On the beauty side, the Saint Laurent line is as popular as ready-to- porter and l'accessoire . The love affair between Yves Saint Laurent and perfumes began in the 1960s. Alongside his clothing collections, the couturier launched his first fragrances, following the example of Y. The general public immediately acclaimed these creations both subtle and daring which leave room for transgression and singularity. In 1977, YSL released the controversial Opium. Presented as an olfactory addiction, this perfume hits and seduces. The following year, the designer unveiled a range of makeup.
